Bilbao
is a huge tourist attraction and is synonymous with the
spectacular Guggenheim Museum. Although Bilbao is
an attractive area of Spain this new (1997) museum is its main attraction.
When you arrive
outside the museum you are greeted by a huge flowering sculpture
of a puppy. The museum itself was designed by world-famous architect,
Frank Gehry and houses many masterpeices within its walls. The building
is a tower of silver and glass, one side runs down to the Nervión
River whle the other pierces the Puente de La Salve.

The museum offers
many exhibitions and also has permanent collection eg 'Sculptors
of the 20th century'
The climate
in Bilbao is mild with daytime temperatures in the summer a around
22C. If you fancy a day at the beach try San Sebastian it has fine
beaches and is only 100 kilometres to the east of Bilbao.
